Karmeliet a Beer from the Bosteels Brewery

Did you know that triple karmeliet is made in Belgium at the historic Bosteels brewery? This brewery was founded in 1791 by Jean Baptiste Bosteels, now in the 7th generation of the family. The brewery's runaway success came in 1993 with the release of their famous triple karmeliet beer, the recipe for which dates back to 1679, created by the Carmelite abbey. The karmeliet recipe has obviously been updated with a blend of 3 cereals: oats for its creamy texture, wheat for its sweetness and barley for its pretty golden colour and rich aromas. The Bosteels brewery is also the founder of another world-famous Belgian beer, the amber-coloured Kwak, released in 1980.
