Tomatin Scotch Whisky

Tomatin is a Scotch whisky distillery located in the Scottish Highlands. It was founded in 1897 under the name Tomatin Spey Distillery Co Ltd. In the 1900's many distilleries were created in Scotland due to the high demand for Scotch whisky on the international market. The Tomatin distillery had to close its doors several times before the 1950s for financial reasons, before reopening definitively shortly after modernising its production. With 12 stills, Tomatin is one of Scotland's largest whisky distilleries.

This whisky from the Tomatin distillery is an 8 year old single malt, so it has been aged for 8 years in oak casks after distillation. Ageing in oak allows the whisky to develop new flavours and aromas. This Tomatin whisky has the particularity of having finished its ageing in oak casks that had previously contained Spanish and Portuguese wine: Maucastel. This Maucastel cask brings rich fruit and floral notes to Tomatin's 8-year-old single malt whisky. You can enjoy this 8-year-old whisky finished in a pure mocastel cask or with a small ice cube as an aperitif.
