Caol Ila Scottish Distillery Founded in 1846

This Scottish distillery on Islay Bay was founded in 1846 by Hector Henderson, a man from Gaslgow. The distillery was named Caol Ila, meaning Strait in Gaelic. Year after year, this Scottish distillery expanded and created its own port to receive the raw materials and to ship the whiskies to the continent.

After 1 century of existence, the Caol Ila distillery was completely rebuilt in order to produce more in onion-shaped stills with a swan neck. Today, all the malt comes from the Port Ellen malting plant.

This 2015 vintage whisky from the caol ila distillery is a single malt whisky with a very peaty style bottled by signatory. The special feature of very cloudy whisky is that it is naturally peated and not chill filtered. This Caol Ila whisky can be drunk neat or on the rocks as a digestive. It is recommended to shake the bottle before tasting in order to make it homogeneous.
