Description
This 6 year old Single Cask Single Malt Whiskey comes from the Strathdearn distillery located not far from Inverness in the Highlands, the distillery which produces Tomatin.
This whiskey was selected by Patrice Villeger who sells his selections under the generic brand ART n CASK.
This non-cold filtered Single Malt was aged in first-fill Hogshead barrels then spent two and a half years in an ex-Barolo barrel. Barrel No. 990089. (red wine from the Montepulciano region of Italy). This was used to mature 3 consecutive wines. This whiskey was distilled on June 16, 2015 and bottled in September 2021.
The result is a wonderful whiskey with a pretty, slightly pink color, the nose is delicious and evokes barley, spices including vanilla and cinnamon and a pastry note reminiscent of butter scotch. The palate is fruity, the Barolo comes to the fore, a hint of menthol is also present. The finish is fresh and fruity.
