Boukman rum is made in the Caribbean on the island of Haiti, and takes its name from an emblematic figure in Haitian history. Dutty Boukman was a Voodoo priest who played a very important role in the abolition of slavery in Haiti, which led to a Haitian revolution in 1804.
Now let's talk about Boukman rum
Boukman rum is made from freshly harvested sugar cane juice, a method similar to that used for agricultural rums, which gives the rum a multitude of additional aromas. The sugar cane juice is then distilled in large copper stills, at which point the first hints of tropical fruit and spices emerge. When you taste Boukman rum, you'll find that it's full of freshness, with exotic fruits, spices and a hint of caramel. You can enjoy this rum from Haiti neat, in cocktails or on the rocks, each type of tasting revealing slightly different flavours.
