This new brand of rum, Pura Vida, is the successor to El Pasador de Oro . Its owners and creators preferred to leave Guatemala and its sometimes unstable political and economic situation for Costa Rica. The ideas and methods remain the same, and the collection of rums is just as successful.
The colour has amber highlights, and the nose evokes notes of exotic woods, dried fruit including sultanas, figs and dates, as well as hints of liquorice and raw cocoa. The palate confirms these notes of dried fruit and nuts, with a hint of rubber or hydrocarbons that might suggest a Jamaican rum, when in fact it is not.
