FUYU Shochu - Crafted on Honshu Island

 

This FUYU shochu is crafted in an artisanal manner on Honshu Island. The sole cereal used in its production is barley. Koji, a type of noble mold, acts as a starter culture, transforming barley starch into glucose, eliminating the need for malting.

 

This Shochu (Sochu) undergoes a double distillation process before being aged in American white oak barrels for three years.

 

It's safe to say that this Shochu bears a remarkable resemblance to a malt whisky.
