It was in 1737 that the Carthusian Fathers first developed the famous recipe for this 69% herbal elixir. The Carthusian fathers decided to blend this plant elixir with 130 medicinal plants rich in aroma. The recipe remains the same to this day, and the Carthusian fathers have carefully preserved the secrets of their recipe for several hundred years. The Grande Chartreuse plant elixir is made from 130 medicinal plants, sugar and honey.
How to taste the Plant Elixir of the Carthusian Fathers
The plant elixir has an alcohol content of 69% in an original 10 cl bottle. Tasting the Grande Chartreuse plant elixir: you can drink it traditionally on a lump of sugar, with an herbal tea, with honey, or with special desserts such as meringue.
