Green Chartreuse is still made today by the Carthusian Fathers.
130 plants are necessary for its development, which only includes natural elements. It ages for a long time in oak barrels in the largest liqueur cellars in the world.
Description
Green Chartreuse from the 18th century, made in the Grande Chartreuse monastery by the monks. This recipe has existed for several hundred years, more precisely since 1737. It is composed of several plants still kept secret to this day, this mixture of fermented plants is then aged in oak bricks for several years. Chartreuse is now highly sought-after throughout the world, although only a few thousand bottles are produced each year and it is exported to over 130 different countries.
Chartreuse Verte is green in colour, as its name suggests, and is made from various plants and herbs that macerate in pure grape alcohol before ageing in casks.
The Chartreux Fathers recommend that you enjoy Chartreuse Verte as a digestive at the end of a good meal, taking your time to appreciate each of its aromas and flavours. It can also be used in 2 well-known cocktails (Last Word, or Chartreuse Swizzle).
Happy tasting!)
