Description
This NIKKA The GRAIN Japanese whiskey is a Japanese Blend Whiskey from the Discorvery Collection. This 3rd version bottled in 2023 is a blend of grain whiskeys produced by the Miyagikyo, Moji, Satsuma Tsukas and Nishinomiya distilleries (which has not produced since 1998).
The nose of this beautiful blend is complex and full of freshness. this complexity is expressed by notes of polish and aromatic plants including chamomile and verbena. (Any comparison with herbal tea ends there..). the rest of the nose is marked by notes of fruits such as mirabelle plum and pineapple. Aging in wood brings its cohort of roasting notes and spicy notes including vanilla notes.
The palate evokes notes of vanilla but also notes of dried fruits such as almond and exotic fruits such as coconut. Then, in a second phase, notes of spices appear, licorice, cinnamon with a slightly more full-bodied finish which evokes ginger.
