Islay Single Malt AS WE GET IT by Ian MacLeod Cask Strenght Whisky

Description

This Islay Single Malt AS WE GET IT is a whiskey produced in Scotland with the Islay appellation, marketed by the Ian Mcleod's brand. This whiskey is produced on the Isle of Islay. The whiskeys from the Isle of Islay all have this characteristic and common style, this presence of smoky notes. These smoky notes are due to the peat which is used to dry the barley during the malting operation. Peat burns up more than it burns and gives off a lot of smoke. It is this smoke that gives the taste that is found in these whiskeys. The Lochs water used gives more or less peat, giving this Islay whiskey these peaty (a little earthy) notes. On this island one can notice two large production zones, in the south with smoked and peaty whiskeys sometimes to the extreme, and in the north the marine influence brings iodine and saline notes. Laphroig is Prince Charles' favorite whiskey happens to be an Islay whiskey. This Islay Single Malt AS WE GET IT is a Single Malt. To be classified as Single Malt a whiskey must obey two important rules. It must come from a single distilleriece which gives the Single, then come only from malted cereals (Malt). The malted cereal must be barley, sometimes in rare exceptional cases rye may be used. Scotland is the main supplier of single malt. These are then Scotch Single Malt Whiskey, but there are other producing nations such as Japan, India, the Czech Republic or France which also offer Single Malts. The conditions are always the same, this whiskey must come from one and the same distillery and the cereal used must be malted barley. This whiskey is a Scottish whiskey. Scotland has the largest number of active distilleries with more than 97 known malt distilleries. Traditionally, distilleries practice double distillation, a regulated distillation since the 17th century! This shows to what extent the famous "scotch whiskey", recognized for its taste qualities, is part of the Scottish heritage. Five main regions are commonly accepted: the Lowlands to the south and the Highlands to the north are the two largest, Speyside which lies to the northeast, Campbeltown and the islands (Orkney, Skye, Mull, Jura and Arran) and finally the Isle of Islay where there is undoubtedly the largest concentration per km² of malt distilleries in the country.
