Description
The red Grande Cuvée from Domaine de L'Hortus has a nose marked by dried fruit, liquorice, violet and a hint of menthol. In the mouth this red wine from Pic Saint Loup is round, the tannins are silky and the notes liquorice and dried fruit are confirmed. The oak is highlighted by fairly pronounced vanilla notes. This wine is made from vines conducted with very tight yields to promote concentration. (Syrah, Mourvèdre 35 hl / ha). Aging is done in new barrels for 18 months. The Domaine de l'Hortus is located on the heights of the hinterland of Montpellier, in the Languedoc region, near Pic Saint Loup and Mont Hortus. The Domaine de l'Hortus is one of the emblematic areas of the appellation of Coteaux du Languedoc and it has made the reputation of Pic St Loup. The Orliac family dared a bet that many considered crazy in the early 90s, but this area of 50 hectares of limestone oriented northeast turns out to be a marvel.
