DEANSTON 12 Years Old Highlands Single Malt Scotch Whiskey
Description
This 12-year-old DEANSTON Single Malt is a whiskey from the Highlands, land renowned as much for its whiskeys, with the largest surface area of scotch whiskey production, as for its Highlanders Games or its famous Loch Ness.
In the Highlands, a region in the north of Scotland, there are whiskeys of a breathtaking diversity, since under the same regional name 30 distilleries coexist, with styles as different as the whiskeys of the islands, with the exception of Islay (Jura, Skyes ...), whiskeys from the fertile plains of the West of Scotland, whiskeys from the mountainous areas, and whiskeys from the north such as Old Pulteney and Glenmorangie.
This is why this region has been subdivided into 4 production regions which are Eastern Highlands, Central Highlands, Western Highlands and Northern Highlands. DEANSTON 12 Year Old Highland Single Malt is a Scotch whiskey. Scotland has the largest number of active distilleries with more than 97 malt distilleries listed. Traditionally, distilleries practice double distillation, a regulated distillation since the 17th century! Undoubtedly one of the reasons why the famous "" scotch whiskey "", renowned for its taste qualities, is part of the Scottish heritage. Five main regions are commonly accepted: the Lowlands to the south and the Highlands to the north are the two largest and arguably best known, with Speyside in the northeastern part, Campbeltown and the islands (Orkney, Skye, Mull, Jura and Arran) and finally the island of Islay on which is undoubtedly the highest density of malt distilleries in Scotland and therefore in the world.
Deanston 12 years old is a Single Malt. To be classified as Single Malt, a whiskey obeys two essential rules. The whiskey must come from a single distillery, hence the Single, and be made only from malted cereals, the Malt.
The malted cereal must be barley, sometimes in rare exceptional cases rye may be used. Scotland is the biggest single malt producer.
These are called Scotch Single Malt Whiskey, but there are other nations, for example Japan, India, the Czech Republic or France, which also offer tasty Single Malt. The principles remain the same, this whiskey must come from a single distillery and the cereal used must be malted barley.
