Description
This Haut Piquat 2016+ Lussac Saint Emilion from Maison Rivière, presented here in magnum, is a wine for laying down. Its limestone plateau terroir is ideal for Merlot.
This wine has a beautiful intense red colour, the nose is marked by red fruit and is slightly spicy. 80% Merlot,15% Cabernet Sauvignon,5% Cabernet Franc Château Haut-Piquat in Lussac Saint-Emilion was the first property to be acquired in 1972. Today, the château covers 22 hectares in a single block on excellent limestone plateaux and hillsides covered with red sandy-clay formations. Sustainable viticulture was introduced in 2001.
During the first days of fermentation, the wine is pumped over two or three times a day to extract the best tannins. A superb four hundred and sixty-barrel cellar, built in 1997, is used to age the wine for 18 months in oak barrels. Haut Piquat is a Maison Riviere St Emilion chateau.
