Description

This Glenmorangie Signet Highlands Whiskey is a whiskey produced in Scotland , marketed by the Glenmorangie brand.

The Glenmorangie Distillery is an institution in the United Kingdom. Of the 10 million bottles that this distillery produces, around 6 million are sold in the UK. We can say that it is the benchmark Single Malt of the British. Glenmorangie, distillery of the Eastern Highlands started its distillery activity in 1843, the first 2 stills bought second-hand were intended for the manufacture of Gin. With their 8 meters and a 3-meter pass, this distillery claims to have the highest stills in Scotland, which Bruichladdich refutes. In reality it is played at a few centimeters ... The height of these stills allows the production of a light flexible Single Malt. Water from the Tarlogie spring, rich in minerals, is the second element that gives Glenmorangie its specificity. During the 1990s, the distillery bought around 600 acres of land around the distillery to control the quality of the water it draws. Glenmorangie has been owned since 2004 by LVMH and Diageo, the upmarket shareholder policy implies that 100% of production is sold in Glenmorangie bottles.

The production of the fabulous BNJ blend (Baillie Nicol & Jarvie) is therefore no longer possible for the moment. The man has a crucial role in the manufacturing process of a bottle of Glenmorangie, the distillation being ensured by the "Sixteen men of Tain". Then the maturation is entrusted to the team led by Mr Lumsden who is at the origin of the aging program in different "Extra Matured" barrels such as Port, Sherry, Sauternes or even red wines. This program is so central to Glenmoragnie's development and differentiation strategy that the distillery now owns its oak forest in Missouri. The barrels produced in the USA dry for 2 years before being rented to Heaven Hill or Jack Daniel's then cross the Atlantic and can finally accommodate Glenmorangie.

The Glenmorangie Signet Highlands Whiskey 70 cl is a whiskey from the Highlands, land renowned as much for its scotches, which is the largest area in scotch whiskey production, as for its Highlanders Games or its famous Loch Ness. In the Highlands, a region in the north of Scotland, there are whiskeys of a breathtaking diversity, because under the same regional name 30 distilleries coexist, with styles as different as the whiskeys of the islands, with the exception of Islay (Jura, Skyes ...), whiskeys from the fertile plains of the West of Scotland, whiskeys from mountainous areas such as Ben Nevis, and whiskeys from the north such as Old Pulteney and Glenmorangie. This is why the Highlands region has been subdivided into 4 production regions which are Eastern Highlands, Central Highlands, Western Highlands and Northern Highlands.

This Glenmorangie Signet Highlands Whiskey 70 cl is a whiskey from Speyside, a region located by the North Sea, in the heart of the Highlands. This region produces about 60% of the volumes of single malts in Scotland, it is the region which has the largest quantity of distilleries still in activity, around fifty. Everything is organized around the River Spey which is the main river which gave its name to the Speyside region. Other rivers flow and their name evokes the distilleries which drink there, one can quote the Livet for Glenlivet, the Fiddich for Glenfiddich, the Deveron for Glen Deveron, they flow in the golf of Moray, which has given the Glen Moray. There are a few exceptions where peat-dried malts have been used, Speyside malt whiskeys are not peated. The common characteristic of Speyside whiskeys is a certain roundness and a lot of elegance. The aromas are always balanced between the fruity touches and the notes of freshly harvested grains, Speyside whiskeys evoke the great classicism of Stottich Malts. For information, know that Speyside Glenlivet was King George IV's favorite whiskey!

Glenmorangie Signet Highlands Whiskey 70 cl is a Scottish whiskey. It is in Scotland that you will find the largest quantity of malt distilleries in activity with more than 97 distilleries recorded. Most often and by tradition, distilleries use double distillation, a regulated distillation since the 17th century! It is not for nothing that the famous "scotch whiskey", recognized for its taste qualities, is part of the Scottish heritage. Five major regions are commonly accepted: the Lowlands to the south and the Highlands to the north are the two largest, Speyside to the northeast, Campbeltown and the islands (Orkney, Skye, Mull, Jura and Arran) and finally Isle of 'Islay where there is certainly the largest concentration per km² of malt distilleries in the country.

GLENMORANGIE Signet Highlands Whisky Is a Single Malt.

To be a Single Malt a whiskey must follow two immutable rules. It is produced in a single distilleriece which explains the Single, then comes only from malted cereals, the Malt. The malted cereal must be barley in rare exceptional cases it is possible to use rye. Scotland is the biggest supplier of single malt. These are called Scotch Single Malt Whiskey, but you will find other producing countries like Japan, India, the Czech Republic or France that also distill Single Malts. the conditions remain the same, the whiskey must be the product of one and the same distillery and the cereal used must be malted barley.

What to Wait of Tasting GLENMORANGIE Signet Highlands Whisky.

This Glenmorangie Signet Highlands Whiskey has spicy notes. The spicy notes of a whiskey come mainly from the wood of the barrel in which it has aged. This wood was heated during the construction of the barrel and toasted beforehand if the barrel sheltered Bourbon. The experience of this wood toasting is therefore essential and influences the transmission of these spicy notes to the whiskey. The most common touches of spices are vanilla, pepper and cinnamon. Seigne (rye) in particular is a cereal, gives the whiskey a superb spicy peppery note, put the nose once in the Bourbon Bulliet Etiquette Verte composed of 95% rye and you will understand.

This whiskey has floral notes that evoke notes of fresh flowers such as heather, violet, orange blossom, rose or lavender. These touches are very subtle and the quality and the number of distillations directly influence the perception of these fine aromas. Notes of perfumes like incense can also be released from the more oily, heavier elements of this Glenmorangie Signet Highlands Whiskey.

This whiskey is fruity, which suggests a notion of lightness in the aromas and flavor on the palate. The yeasts used play an essential role in the final result and in general, as long as a whiskey is neither peaty, nor smoky, nor iodized, then fruit aromas appear. The main families of fruits are white fruits such as peaches, pears and apples, red fruits, citrus fruits but also dried fruits such as walnuts and fresh hazelnuts.
