The Glengoyne distillery is known for its particularly slow fermentation. This choice preserves the delicate aromas of the barley, while creating a whisky that is extremely smooth and slightly sweet. Aged in oak casks, Glengoyne 12 Year Old develops a beautiful aromatic complexity. The sherry casks add depth and roundness, while retaining a lovely fruity freshness.
Glengoyne was founded in 1833 by George Connell at the foot of Dumgoyne Hill near Loch Lomond.
Connell obtained an official licence after years of clandestine distilling. Initially called Burnfoot, then renamed Glenguin in 1861, Glengoyne took on its current name in 1906.
Dominant aromas and flavours: white fruit, caramel, honey, citrus, spices, barley, toasted oak, long on the palate, oily.
