GLENDRONACH 12 ANS
GLENDRONACH 12 Years Old Highlands Single Malt Scotch Whiskey
Description
GLENDRONACH 12 years old is a single malt whiskey produced in Scotland with the Highlands appellation matured in Sherry Oloroso.
This whiskey is distilled at Glendronach. Glendronach, which can be translated from Gaelic by the valley of the brambles or valley of the blackberries, is a distillery in Speyside founded in 1826. Like all the distilleries it has had a rather chaotic life and has known dormant. The notable fact of recent years is to have been bought in 2008 from the Pernod Ricard group by the Benriach distillery run by Billy, the former director of Burn Stewart, a famous name in whiskey in Scotland. We applied the same recipes as for Benriach, that is to say the exploitation of the treasures still contained in the cellars and the installation of a range of single malts with very varied styles. It is possible to consider a Glendronach as a digestif. Rumor has it that Glendronach's reputation in Edinburgh stems from an evening of business failure. The owner was strolling through town then was accosted by 2 prostitutes. He gave each of them a bottle of Glendronach which they shared with them. Very quickly thanks to these prostitutes, almost all the pubs of the Royal Mile offered Glendronach.
The GLENDRONACH 12 years old is a Single Malt.
To be a Single Malt a whiskey must obey two important rules. It is produced in a single distillery which is the explanation of the word "Single" and comes only from malted cereals (Malt). The malted cereal must be barley, however in rare exceptional cases it is possible to use rye. Scotland is the biggest supplier of single malt whiskey. These are called Scotch Single Malt Whiskey, but there are other countries, for example Japan, India, the Czech Republic or France that also produce Single Malts. The rule is the same, this whiskey must come from a single distillery and the cereal used must be malted barley.
