The Ballechin Brand
Ballechin offers us a very good recent whisky from the Edradour distillery. The aim of this distillery is to create a peated whisky based on malted barley. Ballechin is matured in different styles of wine barrel. These first barrels were Burgundy and Madeira. The name Ballechin originates from a neighbouring agricultural distillery, also in Perthshire, which closed in 1927.
Tasting Edradour Ballechin 10 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
On the nose, this whisky is smoky with lime jam, brine with dark chocolate and linseed oil. The palate is complex, with spices, chocolate and earthy peat. The finish is long and peaty, with citrus zest, dark chocolate and liquorice.
