Presentation of the Diplomatico distillery

The Diplomatico distillery was founded in 1959 in the Miel region of Venezuela. The rums produced at the Diplomatico distillery are meticulously crafted, using only the highest quality sugar cane. The distillery also distinguishes its rums by ageing them in bourbon, sherry and French wine casks. These different casks give the rums a great deal of complexity, with astonishing new flavours.

Tasting Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva Rum from Venezuela

On the nose, this rum is sweet, then powerful with aeration. Its aromas of cooked fruit, light tobacco and honey are incredibly mellow. On the palate, it is initially mellow, with strong aromatic vigour. These aromatic notes offer a range of intensity: dried fruit, butterscotch, acacia honey, Havana, tanned leather and sandalwood. The whole is beautifully balanced. It has an amber colour with coppery highlights. The finish is syrupy, with a hint of spice to give it a long, lingering finish.
