Description

DOMAINE de L'A 2017 CASTILLON Côtes de BORDEAUX 75 cl by Stéphane DERENONCOURT.

A great Bordeaux red wine that easily compares to many classified Grands Crus.

This marvellous wine is the fruit of Stéphane Derenoncourt's expertise. He works with vines that are 35 years old on average, planted with 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc, harvested 100% by hand in clay-limestone soil. The yield for this vintage was 16 hectolitres per hectare, which is very low and favours superb concentration. Vatting lasted 30 days, malolactic fermentation was carried out in barrels and 40% of the wine was matured in new barrels and 60% in one-wine barrels for 18 months.

2017 was a vintage in which the class and expertise of the winemaker were paramount. the climate spared all the upper slopes and plateaux, so 2017 was an expression of limestone, without the power of clay.

The result is a ripe vintage bursting with fruit, the classicism of a fine Bordeaux.
