Description
Chimay Bleue Grande Réserve is an iconic Belgian Trappist beer. The monks of Notre Dame de Scourmont Abbey in Belgium produce this magnificent beer. This beer, considered by some to be one of the best in the world, is the fruit of an ancestral brewing tradition and know-how handed down from generation to generation. Chimay Bleue is the strongest of the Chimay beers, with an alcohol content of 9%, and is aged in the bottle to allow the aromas to develop fully.
Scourmont Abbey, founded in 1850, is the birthplace of the Chimay brewery. The Trappist monks have been brewing beer there for over a century and a half, following traditional methods and using natural ingredients. Chimay Bleue Grande Réserve reflects this heritage, offering a unique and authentic taste experience.
Chimay Bleue Grande Réserve is distinguished by its deep brown colour and creamy, persistent head. On the nose, it reveals complex aromas of caramel, dried fruit and sweet spices, with a subtle hint of yeast. On the palate, the attack is smooth and creamy, with flavours of caramel and dried fruit developing harmoniously. The finish is long and lingering, with a slight bitterness that adds depth and balance.
