Description
This Tete de Belier Puech Haut is an intense garnet-red colour. The nose is marked by notes of ripe black berries, developing into more candied and spicy notes underpinned by well-integrated oak. The palate is intense, generous and complex. The aromatic palette is broad, with red fruit, spices (liquorice, pepper) and woody notes (toast). The finish of Puech haut tete de bélier is delicious, with well-integrated oak and velvety tannins. The wine is well-balanced, powerful and elegant, and can be enjoyed now or in around fifteen years' time. The wine is aged for 18 months in casks, with a yield of 25hl/ha. Vinification takes place in wooden vats, the grape varieties are separated and maceration lasts between 35 and 50 days, producing a powerful, highly extracted wine. Rams are to Puech-Haut what sheep are to Rothschild. The ram's head, an ornamental stone from a 12th-century chapel discovered during the colossal works undertaken at the Château, has become the symbol of Puech-Haut. A combination of strength and gentleness, the two majestic animals with their rounded horns adorn Château Puech-Haut and crown the packaging with an endearing power.
