Chateau Margaux 1er Grand Cru Classé de Bordeaux 2007
Chateau Margaux 1er Grand Cru Classé de Bordeaux 2007
Description
The dress of this Chateau Margaux 1er Grand Cru Classé de Bordeaux 2007 is dark with a beautiful black velvet. The nose evokes fine notes of roasting, pepper and black fruit (cherry). The palate reveals sweet tannins with quality oak. A Château Margaux in the great tradition. A single small batch of Merlot, which remains remarkable, finally joined the blend, but it only represents 4%. It is the first time that so little Merlot has entered the composition of this 1st Grand Cru Classé. Petit Verdot (4%) and Cabernet Franc (2%) hold their rank; both provide additional complexity that is difficult to define, but undoubtedly essential to the personality of Château Margaux wines. In 2006, barely 36% of the harvest went into the first wine. The 2006 vintage is a beautiful vintage thanks to the month of September which allowed perfect ripening of Cabernet Sauvignon. Owned by Corinne Mentzelopoulos since 1980, the vineyard of Château Margaux covers 92 hectares. Lafite, Latour and Mouton Rothschild and Latour. This same great wine is aged between 18 and 26 months in new barrels depending on the profile of the vintage. The Red Pavilion is the 2nd wine, and one of the very best second wines in the Médoc. It comes mainly from young vines in the area. Its aging is generally shorter by 3 or 4 months than the great wine and appreciates earlier than the latter.
