Description
Saumur Champigny ORGANIC Les POYEUX by Domaine des FROGERES 2021. This magnum of organic red wine from the Loire is made exclusively from the Cabernet Franc grape variety. The nose is marked by notes of ripe black fruit, with a hint of menthol on the second nose. The palate, marked by hints of toast and spice, is fresh, tannic and supple at the same time. This is the ‘sleight of hand’ that François Xavier and Valentin (who took over the estate from Michel Joseph in 2015) have managed to pull off. The finish confirms the hint of menthol on the nose.
Les Poyeux’ has been known since 1802 as one of the finest crus and terroirs in the Saumur region. This exceptional terroir owes its renown to its tuffeau soil, sunny slopes and microclimate.
