AHOY French rosé GIN aged in white wine barrels from Domaine de Chevalier in Pessac Léognan
Description
This Rose gin is produced by the almost century-old Bordeaux distillery founded in 1928 by Lucien Bernard. This venerable institution is now in its 4th generation.
The alcohol base is a neutral alcohol made from 100% French wheat, and the botanicals used are juniper berries, hibiscus flower, and essences of pine and Piment d'Espelette.
The whole has been aged in barrels containing white wine from the Domaine de Chevalier in Pessac Léognan, which adds roundness on the palate and extra aromatic complexity.
The nose clearly suggests notes of juniper berries and pine. The first impression on the palate is of flowers and spices. The finish takes on more specific notes of Espelette pepper.
The term "Ahoy" is used in sailing to indicate one's presence and attract the attention of other yachtsmen.
