This Arbeg whisky, although young, is no less peaty (quite the contrary!). It is indeed a "peat beast" (Beastie) which will be the perfect base for making smoky cocktails. The cellar master of Arbeg observed that it is after 5 years of aging that the expression of the peat is at its maximum. You will therefore find in this Ardbeg Wee Beastie whiskey very peaty impressions, in addition to spicy notes, mainly pepper and a tsunami of smoke on the finish. You will understand that this whiskey is not nuanced and that is why we particularly like it.

Ardbeg Wee Beastie The Little Beast that goes up, that goes up that goes up...

After a few minutes of discussion with Stéphane on this snowy morning of April 1st, it was difficult for us to select a whiskey for our monthly tasting.
Should we go for a winter whiskey, or a spring whisky...
The idea was (pun intended) to find a whiskey ideally between seasons.

He is an Ardbeg, the "Wee Beastie" which means Little Beast in Gaelic.

Ardbeg once again demonstrates its know-how with this 5-year-old peat single malt, aged in Bourbon and Sherry Oloroso casks.

Ardbeg is a historic distillery founded in 1815, located on the south coast of the Isle of Islay like Lagavulin and Laphroaig.

The Cercle du Malt had already had the opportunity to taste this whiskey which is part of its Top 3 of young Whiskey from Islay.

A powerful iodized nose, vegetal and fresh notes that can recall the pleasant smell of freshly mown grass.
Granny apple, pine sap and fresh pepper.

In the mouth we find all the power of Ardbeg.
A straightforward, fresh, grassy, ​​saline whisky.
Wee Beastie releases its Peat gradually until...

A final that we love.
Long, greedy revealing toasted and sherry notes.

Congratulations to Ardbeg for this whiskey which does not have to blush in front of its big brother, the Ten because it makes us discover peat by another path...
