A.H Riise Rum

Founded in 1840 by Albert Heinrich Riise, the A.H. Riise brand has become a benchmark in the world of rum. This Danish pharmacist settled on the island of St Thomas, then a territory of the Danish West Indies, to open an office and began distilling rum. A.H RIISE XO Christmas Edition blends rums from the finest distilleries in the West Indies and Central America.

The Tasting

Based on the XO cuvée, this XO Christmas version is a blend of different batches aged for 20 years in oak casks, then matured for a further year in Pedro Ximenez Sherry casks. Dominant aromas and flavours: Christmas cake spices, cloves, cinnamon, spices, pineapple, mango, melon, vanilla, milk chocolate, citrus fruit, coconut.

Good to know: Pedro Ximénez Sherry is a Spanish wine appreciated for its sweetness (very high sugar content) and intense flavours. Dark, almost black in colour, it is known for its rich, complex aromas, with notes of dried fruit (raisins, figs, dates), honey, treacle, chocolate, coffee and sometimes liquorice. It goes perfectly with fruit and chocolate tarts, ice cream or blue-veined cheeses.
