Description
Magnum of Saumur Champigny BIO Les POYEUX by Domaine des FROGERES 2021. This magnum of organic red wine from the Loire is produced exclusively from the Cabernet Franc grape variety. The nose is characterized by notes of ripe black fruits, and a hint of menthol becomes apparent on the second sniff. The palate is marked by hints of roasted and spicy notes, with freshness, tannins, and suppleness all at once. This is the "magic trick" achieved by François Xavier and Valentin (who took over the estate from Michel Joseph in 2015). The finish confirms the menthol nuances perceived on the nose.
The lieu-dit "Les Poyeux" has been known since 1802 as one of the exceptional crus and terroirs of the Saumur region. Its renown is due to its tuffeau soil, sunny hillsides, and favorable microclimate.
This is an excellent choice for enthusiasts of characterful organic wines.
