This Classic Overproof rum at 60% ABV is incredibly intense. As is customary with Hampden rums, it boasts high ester levels. This version is no exception, with ester levels ranging from 400 to 600 grams per hectoliter of pure alcohol. This concentration of esters falls into the HCLF category, which stands for Hampden Light Continental Flavoured.
To create this superb rum, the fermentation of molasses was intentionally extended, and fermentation is a crucial step that determines the final character of the rum. As a result, this rum is indulgent and offers notes reminiscent of the pastry world, with hints of flambéed banana and dried fruits. On the palate, these fruity and pastry notes combine to evoke candied fruits and the smoky notes so characteristic of Jamaican rums.
