Description

GLENMORANGIE Palo Cortado 12 Year Old, this Highland whisky completed its aging for 4 years (a very rare occurrence) in Palo Cortado Sherry casks after 8 years in American oak barrels previously used for bourbon.

 

Upon tasting, you are immediately seduced by the impression of sweetness. Aging or finishing in sherry casks is not uncommon in the world of whiskies. What is less common is working with Palo Cortado casks because this sherry is rarer as it undergoes the spontaneous formation of a yeast veil on Amontillado sherry.

 

You will appreciate the nose marked by stone fruit notes, followed by slightly spicy notes. On the palate, there are hints of candied fruit, dried fruit, caramel, and sweet spices like cinnamon. The finish even evokes notes of new leather.
