Description
Absinthe Versinthe Apéritif Anisé
Versinthe is an absinthe produced in Provence since 1999. Located in the Pays d'Aix, at the foot of the Sainte Victoire mountain, the Liquoristerie de Provence is renowned for its expertise in the production of pastis and absinthe. Versinthe is a blend of 20 ingredients: wormwood, bitter, aniseed and balsamic plants, plus peppermint and verbena.
The Liquoristerie de Provence has been awarded the prestigious "Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant" label, and some of its products have won prizes in major international competitions.
History of Versinthe Absinthe
In the 19th century, absinthe, nicknamed "the Green Fairy", was prized by artists and poets, before being banned in 1915. Absinthe was reintroduced to the French market in 1988, with a very low thujone content, the molecule deemed responsible for its hallucinogenic effects. In 2011, France officially authorised the production of absinthe under its original name, allowing distilleries to revive the tradition.
