The arrival of Nikka whiskey in Japan

Masataka Taketsuru is the man who started it all, he was sent to Scotland to learn the art of whiskey before the First World War. He falls in love with a pretty Scottish girl but has to return to Japan during the conflict. He leaves to marry Jessie Roberta (known as Rita) and returns to Japan. in 1934 he created the Japanese whiskey company Nikka, built his first distillery, Yoichi, which was to be followed by the Miyagikyo distillery in 1969, the second distillery of the Nikka group. From the production of these two distilleries with so different characteristics, the Nikka group declines its entire range of whiskeys, blen and single malt.
