Rivière du Mat Rhum
Rivière du Mat is the alliance of the Beaufonds and Gol distilleries in 1984
It is now in the town of St Benoit, but was created in 1886 in Rivière du Mat. The Rivière du Mat distillery has always been the extension of a sugar refinery. Thus, Mat river rums are either molasses rums or agricultural rums made from freshly crushed sugar cane juice. Rivière du Mat has recently paid a lot of attention to the way it ages and matures its rums. A cellar master of Cognac origin came to bring a new vision by bringing in new barrels, new or aged, burnt or not, French or American. The idea of these new breeding methods is to reveal the spicy notes (pepper and chilli) of the Reunion region.
