Whiskey Isle of Jura Distillery
Where does the name of Isle of Jura Whiskey come from?
Isle of Jura is a distillery located (as its name suggests so well !!) on the Isle of Jura in the town of Craighouse. Isle of Jura produces fairly light and unpeated malts there (a peated version is the exception that proves the rule). With the rebirth of the distillery in 1963, a deliberate choice was made, it consisted in moving away from the style of its neighbors of Islay marked by peat and smoky notes. Initially Isle of Jura was considered as a distillery to supply whiskeys for the assembly of White & Mackay and Mackinlay blends.
A light whiskey, the style of Isle of Jura whiskey
This forged the style of Isle of Jura which rather worked under the leadership of Richard Paterson on versions with particular finishes in sherry barrels, French barrels etc ... while seeking to assert its marine identity with iodine notes. and savory which combine wonderfully with these finishes.
