A crémant is a sparkling wine obtained by a traditional method (refermentation in the bottle) and coming from a specific appellation area. There are several kinds of crémants in France. The best known are in order of production importance: Crémant d'Alsace, Crémant de Bourgogne, Crémant de Loire, Crémant de Limoux, Crémant du Jura, Crémant de Die and Crémant de Savoie. The grape varieties used vary according to the appellation areas. The advantage of crémants is that they are generally less expensive than champagnes while sometimes offering very nice surprises. We want as proof the superb Crémant de Bourgogne from Domaine de Rochebin 100% chardonnay. However, pay attention also to beautiful traditional methods such as Charles Pelletier, Grandin or François Montand
