Roasted barley for making dark beer

A stout or black ale is a beer that has been brewed with extremely roasted barley. This roasting at the limit of burning gives this very dark color, almost black to the brew. Contrary to popular belief, black beers are not stronger than other beers because the alcohol level will depend on the sugar content of the brew, this sugar being transformed into alcohol during alcoholic fermentation. The degree of alcohol will depend on the quantity of cereals used for a volume of water during brewing which will determine the concentration of starch, therefore of sugar and therefore the degree of alcohol of the beer.
