These Mars beers could only be brewed and marketed during the month of March. Spring beers use the same processes but the marketing period is much more flexible to the delight of lovers of these beers with less hops, less alcohol, spices and delicate caramelized notes.
A tradition that continues, spring beer
Historically, March was the last month in which it was allowed to brew; the official brewing period ran from October through March of the following year. The low temperatures of those months served as a "natural refrigerator". Nowadays this constraint no longer exists but the tradition continues. The month of March also makes it possible to brew malts from the previous season with new spring plants.
