Japanese Rum
Rum from Japan
The islands of southern Japan (Minami Daïto, Ogasawara Lejima) benefit from a tropical climate allowing the production of high quality sugar cane. It is therefore natural that Japan produces rum. Add to this, that the demand for rum is particularly high in Japan. All the ingredients are there for a production of quality Japanese rums to emerge. As the Japanese do so well, they are currently inspired by Caribbean rum production methods, but it's a safe bet that in a few years, after having fully assimilated these techniques, they will surprise us with other methods.
