Why will this beer be called IPA?
I.P.A. means India Pale Ale. Historically these beers were stronger in alcohol and more hoppy in order to travel properly to India. These beers also bore the names of I.A (India Ale), E.I.A (Export India Ale) or A.P.I (Ale As Prepared For India).
IPA beer, hops dominate the taste
Nowadays the alcohol level has fallen but the hopping has continued to grow, resulting in beers with very marked hints of hops, sometimes marked by citrus notes and a mouth with a frank bitterness and pleasantly malty on the finish.
