Mead
Have you ever tasted Mead ?
Mead is the fruit of the fermentation of honey diluted in water and the yeasts in the honey initiate an alcoholic fermentation. The Mayanne company produces a sparkling mead which has been a huge success. A mead takes a few months to fully develop its aromas. Aging in oak barrels brings roundness and complexity to the mead, the tannins of the wood give the mead a greater aging capacity. Some meads can be flavored with fruits or plants and roots.
Mead is undoubtedly the first alcoholic drink that man produced. A man leaves honey in a container in which it rains during a downpour. Alcoholic fermentation starts thanks to the endogenous yeasts and voila. There are traces of mead production in China around the year - 700, and Aristotle in -350 was the first to record a recipe.
