it is this revolutionary advertising in the Paris metro that forever marked the notoriety of this French-style Vermouth in red and white. The botany mainly used in Dubonnet is cinchona. From its creation in 1846 by Joseph Dubonnet, this cinchona wine was adopted by the soldiers of the Foreign Legion stationed in North Africa in swampy areas plagued by malaria.
Collectors are snapping up the originals of the Dubonnet posters designed by graphic designer Cassandre, the pseudo of Adolphe Jean Marie Mouron.
