La Favorite Agricole Rum from Martinique

Rum La Favorite a family distillery

André Dormoy represents the 4th generation at the head of one of the two family and independent distillery in Martinique. The distillery was founded in 1842, but it was in 1905 that it was taken over and modernized by the Dormoy family. The distillery still works with vintage steam engines, the sugar cane fibers (bagasses) are used as fuel for the steam engines and the distillation columns. It was applied ecology before its time. The Dormoy family was very active in obtaining the AOC Rhum Agricole de la Martinique in 1996. This recognition of all the work done in Martinique follows the obtaining of the Label Rouge in 1973 and the request for AOC classification made in 1974. White rum from La Favorite is naturally sweet and marked by citrus fruits. La Favorite rums come only from fresh sugar cane juice fermented and distilled in a copper column.
