Yamazaki Japanese Whiskey by Suntory

Yamazaki Distillery is the oldest whiskey distillery in Japan, Yamazaki Whiskey

It was born under the leadership of Mr. Shinjiro Torii (founder of the Suntory group) in 1923 in the city of Shimamoto not far from Osaka. The Suntory group used at the time another huge name of Japanese whiskey, Mr Masatka Taketsuru who then founded the Nikka group. Yamazaki single malts are still the best selling single malts in Japan. We never tire of its different versions in 10 years, 12 years, 18 years and distiller's reserve. The classic style of Yamazaki is expressed around the aromas of Toffee, almonds, cinnamon and cloves.

The location of the Yamazaki whiskey distillery has been carefully chosen to replicate the climatic conditions of the Highlands in Scotland

The distillery has a collection of yeasts which give their particularities to the 6 varieties of malted barley that Yamazaki imports from Scotland. The light peaty notes come from some barley which has been dried over a peat fire in Scotland during malting.
