Chénas Beaujolais red Wine
Chénas: the smallest wine-growing area of Beaujolais vintages.
Indeed, the appellation Chénas covers only 265 hectares. At the same time, a Chénas gives an impression of power and softness, of smoothness, carried by a dense tannic structure. The color is a deep garnet red, the full-bodied and voluptuous mouth evokes floral and fruity notes. During aging in wood, a Chénas can also present spicy notes such as vanilla. A Chénas has an aging capacity of around 8 to 10 years or even more for estates located on hillsides. Remarkably, the maceration times for Chénas exceed 10 days and sometimes reach 15 days, which is very long in Beaujolais.
