The nose of this 100% Gamay wine evokes a subtly floral (violet, peony) and fruity (strawberry, cherry redcurrant) world. A Juliénas is one of the Beaujolais Crus to benefit from a good aging capacity, up to 8 or 10 years. The name Juliénas would refer to Julius Caesar who would have set up a camp in the surroundings during his conquest of Gaul. In any case, this refers to the cultivation of vines in this region in Roman times, Juliénas would be the first vineyard of the Gallo-Roman era of Beaujolais. Juliénas has been recognized as an AOC since 1938.
